Our Mission

Making the world a better place through play and pie

Why pie?

I love pie! Some people prefer cake, and others pie. What if dogs are the same?

In graduate school, I kept my creativity (okay, procrastination) going by baking up pies and celebrating my favorite holiday, Pi Day. In 2019, I made a New Year’s resolution to bake a pie a week to bring more beauty and creativity into my life and others’. While my rate of baking pies for humans has slowed a bit, I feel most at home with my fingers in dough. Pie is such a fun medium to experiment with flavors, fillings, and designs!

Why pups?

Maggie, a Lab mix with the most fantastic beard, was my faithful companion in graduate school and beyond. I would bake treats; she would sneak them off the counter. Since adopting Lily and JJ in 2021, I’ve been honoring Maggie’s legacy by intentionally creating baked good to share with the pups and finding new, creative ways to make dog-safe, but delicious treats.

Why play?

Play is hands/paws down the best way to learn and to bond! My full-time job is as a philosophy professor specializing in the philosophy of play. Play can take many forms. As adults, we sometimes need reminders to embrace that side of ourselves. I love helping humans and dogs alike find their unique playful spirits and creating possibilities for joy. Certainly pie has a role in that, too!
